Frequently Asked Questions for Potential Schools and Orphanages

We need books in our school or orphanage. What is the first step?
The first step is to contact our County Director. She will get the process moving forward asap. Once your elementary school or orphanage is approved, it sometimes only takes two weeks before you will receive your library.

Do you provide books to middle schools, high schools or universities?
We are currently very focused on providing libraries to only elementary schools. To be more specific, we only provide libraries to remote elementary schools that lack the necessary funding for a quality library. To get a better idea of the elementary schools and orphanages that we are currently providing libraries to, please check out out Adopt a Library page on our website.

What kinds of books do you provide?
The Library Project provides a wide range of children’s books that include: history, science, short stories, fairy tales, books for very young readers, children’s dictionaries, children’s reference books, and an assortment of comic books. Each school also receives a full set of children’s encyclopedias for older students. Every book is in full color and of the highest quality.

Does The Library Project have a Chinese partner?
Our legal Chinese partner is the Xi'an Charity Association. They are a small Chinese charity based out of Xi'an, China. They are a huge reason why we are able to provide high quality libraries in so many remote areas of China.

Frequently Asked Questions for Potential Donors

Is The Library Project a registered charity in the USA?
The Library Project is an IRS registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which takes great pride in our financial efficiency, our accountability to donors and our transparency. We strive to use every dollar contributed as efficiently as possible.

What percentage of my donation will go toward project specific costs like books and libraries, and what percentage goes toward administration costs?
100% of your contributions will go directly toward our programs. In other words, none of your donation will go toward overhead cost such as marketing and administration costs. This is achieved because: our board of directors and private donors cover our overhead. 100% of your donation will go toward getting books in the hands of children that do not have access to them.

Can I pick the elementary school or orphanage that my donation will go toward?
Yes! You can pick the elementary school or orphanage. that you would like your donation to go toward. The best place to start researching your library options is on our Adopt a Library page of our website. You will find libraries that range from $250 to $1,000. Every elementary school and orphanage is very different from each other in size, student numbers, and project area.

Are you serious? Can a $1,000 really provide a library to an elementary school or orphanage?
Absolutely! Sometime we can even provide libraries for as little as $250 because we receive books through community based book collections.

Not only that, but we provide the highest quality tables, chairs, bookshelves and between 500 to 3000 Chinese language children's books to each elementary school and orphanage. These are the best libraries that we can provide, because the children deserve nothing less.

Can I donate English books to The Library Project?
Yes you can. We only provide books to very young learners, and if you are thinking of donating English language books, please only donate books no more difficult than third grade. Send your books to our Phoenix address. We ship book to our China office twice a year. Our address is below:
